I received this game with the Wii console that was a birthday present from my family. As no one knew what game I wanted (I don't think I even knew if I were to look myself), this was bought in hopes that it would be my kind of game. When I first saw it, I have to admit I was skeptical. For one, I'm horrible at action games, tend to avoid games based off of movies, not to mention that I have never seen the Narnia movies, nor have I read any of the books.
I was very pleasantly surprised when I finally popped the game disc into my Wii, and couldn't stop playing for hours afterwards.
The environments and graphics are simply gorgeous, and there are little boundaries to exploration. The game is quest based, and you can complete the quests in any order in the area that you are in. There are little puzzles that aren't so complex that they're frustrating, but they're hidden around for you to find to unlock bonus content on the main menu (such as artwork and videos).
I find the difficulty to be perfect to enjoy the game. It's not frustratingly difficult (so far), but it does take a little bit of thinking and exploring to find out what to do next (and if you get stuck, there's a log you can pull up on the screen that has goals for you and hints on how to complete them).
Another thing I found myself enjoying was the fact that there are multiple characters for you to switch whenever you feel like it. Certain characters are needed to accomplish certain tasks (there are advantages to being smaller, or being stronger, or being able to use a bow, etc.), and the characters that are unused will run around and help you out when you need them (fighting enemies, or simultaneously pulling another lever).
All in all it is a FUN game that I recommend to anyone. The reviews I have read online are mixed, but I wonder if some criticism is a bit harsh. So far I have not found myself bored by ANY means, and I am very happy to have it in my game library. |
Great game and brings the movie to life.

My family and I really enjoy this game based on the movie "Prince Caspian." We love action adventure type games like the Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, Legends of Zelda, LOTR and Harry Potter so this one is a perfect addition to our GBA/DS game collection.
The game pretty much follows the storyline of the movie. Prince Caspian is introduced, then we move on to the Pevensies, and then back and forth between these characters as they fight new foes, meet new characters and visit new locations. If you've seen the movie or read the books, then you will know how the general game plot goes. The fighting depends on which character(s) you are fighting with. For example. Peter, Edmund and Caspian fight with swords (which involve you rubbing the stylus back and forth in the screen); and Susan fights with a bow and arrow (which involves you trying to push back on the arrow with the stylus and making sure that you hit the mark). The movements and fighting involves the stylus and there is some reading required as you move from stage to stage in the storyline. You also get to collect things like food, 'equipment' and treasures that you can store in your 'inventory.' While you can only play with one character at a time, you can have up to 3 characters help you out as you fight enemies (which can be 2-3 at a time).
We're really enjoying this game. We're huge Narnia and fantasy movie fans, so this game is a perfect addition to our movie/book/game collections. I highly recommend this to all Narnia and video game fans out there. |

Our family enjoys the Prince Caspian game for DS. It's a fun action adventure game that is appropriate for most ages (recommended for those over 5 and have basic reading skills).
The game pretty much follows the story based on the film, and starts with Caspian fleeing the castle with the aide of his tutor, Dr. Cornelius. It then moves on to Cair Paravel, where Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy wander the woods in search and as they battle various creatures. The gameplay then follows the general plot as it is in the movie, as the characters are introduced to new locations, scenes, enemies and characters.
The character(s) you play as depends on where you are in the stage of the game. For instance, in the beginning you play as Caspian, then you move on to the Pevensies, and so on. When the Pevensies are together, you can pick a main character to play and you can generally have up to 3 of the kids band together to find enemies.
Generally, there is a short tutorial as each type of fighting skill is introduced and almost always involves the use of the stylus (i.e. how Edmund and Caspian fight with their swords, how Peter fights with this sword, and how Susan fights with her bow and arrow). Unlike the previous Narnia and LOTR games (for GBA), the fighting is turn based so that the good guys and bad guys each have a turn, and the damage you inflict (and the points that you gain) is generally based on how quick you are with the stylus (each character has their own fighting style). Sometimes, 2 or 3 characters can fight more than 1 enemy at a time. I must say the graphics and environments are very good, and the characters in this game closely resemble the actors in the film. Like most adventure games (like LOTR and the early Narnia games), you can collect items, build your strength based on 'experience' points and find various types of objects (potions, food, treasures) around Narnia.
My family enjoyed the previous Narnia (Lion, Witch and Wardrobe) games as well as the LOTR and Harry Potter movie-based games for GBA and DS, and this game is very similar to those. We are still playing it so how it ends still remains to be seen. So far though, we are enjoying "Prince Caspian" and it has held my kids' (aged 7 and 10) and my interest. We definitely recommend this game to fans of the Narnia movies and those who enjoy good action-adventure, family-oriented games. |
One Awesome game

I think this game is worth the money. I enjoyed it a lot. The controls are simple to understand. I figured them out in a few minutes. I think that this game is best for people who one, like fighting, two, like puzzles, three, like adventure. So I would not recommend this a five-year old for two reasons. One, the puzzles require a lot of patience and advanced thinking, and two, some levels might frighten children. For example, there is this one level where Peter needs a grappling hook so he can climb up the cliff. So he and Edmund go into this cave to find it. You have to wander around in this dark, somewhat spooky cave with a torch that can be blown out by the wind gusts blowing in the cave if you are not careful. And when your torch is out, the bats come after you. You can't see, them, but they maul you and kill you. Killer bats. Not exactly a happy, peaceful kind of level. And another level where the Pevensies search for their treasure. There are giant cockroaches scurrying all over the floor. So it's an awesome game for kids who can distinguish graphic video games from real life, but it might give your little kid nightmares. If you're 10 yrs or older, though, you will love this game. The first time I played, I didn't stop for hours! Though I do think that it's more of a boy game. I'm a boy, and I love it, but I don't think most girls are very much into this type of game. I mean, the female characters do have their scenes in the game, but their scenes are violent too. Lucy throws daggers (in essence, short swords) and Susan, along with her bow and quiver of arrows (which is never empty, by the way) has a light sword! No kidding! So they are just as violent. Overall, this game is really cool for preteens, (though I think it's geared toward the male audience), but not a good choice for small children. It does fit its rating of T for Violence. I love this game, it is the highlight of my game library.
5 stars!!!
P.S. The game contains never before seen clips that didn't make it into the movie! With the same actors and everything! |

| I can't rate this game as some sort of expert, because I'm pretty lousy at games like this. But this one is fun and fairly easy to understand, even for a beginner. I'm really enjoying it! |

| I thought this was a great game...the non-linear play makes it much more interesting than the first. You can complete missions, then complete side missions in any order you want. You can team up with creatures, fight as creatures with different skills. You can even ride into battle as a Centuaur and just trample soldiers, slashing as you go. Cool puzzles to solve, objects to collect, and lots of battle action. Besides the main characters and the creatures, you can also play as characters like Prince Caspian and his tutor, and other side characters. I thought this game is great followup to the first, and it blows the first game away. Sure to be enjoyed by kids, teens and any Narnia fans. |
